AWS BACKUP SOLUTION

The Challenge

Mynt had a requirement for implementing up a backup solution and were introduced by AWS for Rebura to assist in this.

“Following a data loss, we quickly needed to setup an offsite backup of our files. We contacted our AWS Account Manager who recommended that we speak to Rebura. Rebura were amazing from the first interaction and quickly provided an expedited solution to match our rather aggressive timescales.”

The Solution

Our proposed solution included setting up a new AWS account in line with the AWS Well-Architected framework.

We configured the AWS infrastructure including S3, Glacier, VPC and Storage Gateway. Rebura configured lifecycle policies to move data from S3 to glacier when it was unused for a set amount of time.

Our team then began working with Mynt and their internal IT to configure backup jobs on their new Synology Diskstation, which would cache local versions of files and would run the backup jobs to S3.

Rebura also included a Snowball to ingest archive data from the existing USB drives. Storage Gateway is attached to an S3 bucket and configured as file gateway. Site to site VPN is configured between office and AWS to access Storage Gateway. Users can then connect to Storage Gateway to access Archive data stored in S3 over SMB share (Windows and Mac compatible).

The Results

Mynt now have a fully functioning backup solution so never have to worry about losing data again! This is tested quarterly by Rebura and the results are shared across the company and their client base.
